Dear friends and partners:
Greetings in the name of Jesus, our Lord.
Thank you for your prayers and support of One Hope Outreach Ministry. We are so thankful for the Spirit of God that enables us to walk together, serve the Lord Jesus Christ and preach the good news of the gospel.
Pray first. Throughout the four gospel accounts of Jesus’ life and ministry we find that He spent much time in prayer. He was in constant communication with His heavenly Father on a regular and consistent basis through prayer.
His disciples saw His prayer life and how it was modeled before them. They saw the effectiveness of those prayers and asked if He would teach them how to pray. (Luke 11:1)
As followers of Christ, as the early disciples were, we are well advised to follow the Lord Jesus’ example of daily prayer and communication with Him. Upon discovery of a successful Christian walk, that success can always be traced to prayers.
A Christian life is to be based upon the foundation of the word of God and a prayer life that is consistent with the Bible.
In the 18th chapter of Luke’s gospel account we find the parable of a persistent widow that would not be denied a redress to her grievances. The simple lesson here is to be steadfast in our approach to receiving an answer when we pray.
The apostle Paul reiterates the spirit of the persistent widow parable when in I Thessalonians he said that we should “pray without ceasing.”
Based upon these statements is seems that a Christian should constantly be in a state of readiness to pray at all times. Whether it be in a private time or an appropriate public setting.
There are many things that need the attention and prayers of the saints. We find in the bible that we are to pray for leaders, for one another, and to make request as we look to God as our source and supply of all things.
As we take inventory of the time spent with God in prayer and find that there is a shortfall on our part, then the satisfactory corrective action is simply to repent, make an adjustment and commit to spend more time communicating with the heavenly Father. After all, the time spent here will pay great dividends both in our life and the lives of others.
