Dear friends and partners:
Greeting in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. We are always so thankful for your love and support of One Hope Outreach Ministry as we seek to do the will of God and preach the good news of the gospel.
Every believer has a race to run and it is the will of God that we each run our race successfully.
Hebrews 12:1 [NKJV] Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us. We are to follow God’s will (or plan) for our life as if we are running in a contest with a prize set before us.
Some Christians struggle to know what the will of God is for their life. Many are wanting God to speak and deliver a word from heaven via a prophecy or audible voice or maybe a sign in the heavens. But it is just as much the will of God to live daily, governed by the written word, as would a specific direction about something He would have us do.
Ephesians 5:17-18(KJV) says that the will of God is to be filled with His Spirit
17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; It is the will of God that every believer be filled with His Spirit and run the race in the power that is available through that filling. We are to strip off every weight and sin that would hinder us from obeying God.
Every believer must be serious about service for Jesus Christ. A decision of consecration and dedication to Him and His calling is a must.
As we walk in the power of His Spirit and obey His word, past failures and shortcomings will not hinder our race. We have a daily choice to either live by the dictates of the carnal mind or in the power of the Spirit. Apostle Paul says in his letter to the church at Rome that our duty is to the Spirit which is forevermore in alignment with the written word of God.
12 Well then, my brothers, we owe a duty—but it is not to the flesh! It is not to live by the flesh! 13 If you live by the flesh, you are on the road to death; but if by the Spirit you put the actions of the body to death, you will live. 14 For the sons of God are those who are guided by the Spirit of God. 15 You have received no slavish spirit that would make you relapse into fear; you have received the Spirit of sonship. And when we cry, "Abba! Father!"
