Staying Connected

Page 1

Dear friends and partners:

Greetings to all our friends and partners of One Hope Outreach Ministry. As we celebrate what God has done throughout the past year and as we enter into this Christmas season, we are very thankful for your continued prayers and support as we share the love of Jesus around the world.

As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, may we remember the true reason why we celebrate. The birth of Jesus, His life on earth, His atoning work on the cross, resurrection from the dead and ascension into heaven are all supernatural acts of God. The advent of a virgin giving birth to the Messiah and His atoning work on the cross was all foretold by the prophets of the Old Testament. And never, throughout history of mankind has a more beautiful story been told.

The four gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke and John present Jesus Christ as God become flesh; Deity and humanity united in one flesh. And to those who know Jesus as redeemer from all sins have no question about His Divinity. But there are multitudes who disallow the virgin birth and claim that He was only human. However, one needs only to look at the aforementioned miraculous birth, scan through the recorded pages of His sinless life, look at His sacrificial death on the cross and ascension to the Father to realize He was more than just a man, indeed He was God made flesh as He dwelt among men.

Without the babe in a manger in Bethlehem of Judea, the miracle worker of Galilee and the crucified, resurrected Christ of Calvary the Christian claims of a new life in Him would not be possible, rather it would just be a religious experiment. But to those who do believe the gospels it is more than a religious experiment. It is an experience of His life changing power. And because of His life changing power, we find ourselves bowing before the Christ that was born in a manger so many years ago and adoring Him as our God and Saviour.

What about you, what is your interpretation of the Christ child born in a manger? Do you believe the gospels?

Mary had a Little Lamb Dec 2024

Recently my son Mason, came across an online joke that said. If Mary gave birth to Jesus, and Jesus is the lamb of God. Does that mean Mary had a little lamb? While this may raise a chuckle or two, scriptures refer to Jesus as the lamb of God numerous times. John 1:29 “Behold the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.” Isaiah 53:7 “He was oppressed and afflicted yet he did not open his mouth. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter.” In the book of Revelation Jesus is referred to as the lamb twenty-eight times. Looking back over the history of Jesus’ life we can clearly see the parallels between Jesus as a sacrificial lamb, answering the question with a resounding yes.

During the time of Jesus’ birth most Jews thought their savior would appear as a great warrior, armed to take down their enemies and free them from the tyranny of the Roman Empire. Instead, God chose to send His son as an innocent baby, dependent on earthly parents to care for him. He had the same basic needs as we did when we were babies. And yes, he ultimately had a special covering over his life, God put him on our level, so, just like us Jesus had to rely on His mother Mary for food, His earthly father Joseph for guidance. But more importantly when it is written Jesus was fully man and fully God, there would be no arguments.

Jesus entered earth just like us, completely innocent and dependent on someone bigger than He. These are both key factors in our relationship with God. He wants us to live our lives free of sin, innocent if you will. And he wants us to remain dependent on him for our nourishment through His word. Don’t allow Christmas to pass by without taking a “silent night” thanking God for the ultimate gift His son Jesus Christ.
